VP of Software Engineering

Bigstream is looking for a seasoned, driven, and passionate VP of Software Engineering to lead our Product Engineering team for the world’s first hyper-acceleration (CPUs + GPUs + FPGAs) platform for Big Data, ML and AI workloads. This is cutting edge technology that uses a powerful combination of acceleration techniques to squeeze every last ounce of performance from each application and from every node in the cluster. As the VP of Engineering, you will be responsible for ensuring the success of Bigstream’s product development and engineering activities, building a world-class engineering team, and delivering an enterprise-ready platform. In this highly visible, impactful role, you will have the ability to engage, influence, and collaborate cross-functionally among Engineering, Product and Sales.


  • Develop, lead and inspire the Product Engineering team to ensure clear, effective communication of initiatives, objectives, issues, and quality delivery
  • Partner with Product and Sales through strategic planning with release schedules, product requirements, product quality, and business operations


  • BS/MS Degree in Computer Science and/or Computer Engineering or related field (PhD strongly preferred)
  • 5-10+ years of experience working in the big data, distributed systems, and real-time analytics markets
  • Significant engineering management experience in cloud services and PaaS environments
  • Skilled people manager with experience leading and growing a high-performing team
  • Expertise with cloud technologies such as Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure
  • A deep understanding of cloud services, big data infrastructure, and platform software
  • Familiarity with Spark, Hadoop, and TensorFlow is required
  • Familiarity with Kafka, Presto, Hive, and MySQL is strongly preferred
